Pune, February 15, 2021: The problem of traffic jams on Pune-Nagar road is serious. Now the 47-km Yerwada-Shirur road has been planned at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore and a three-storey flyover will be constructed mainly on the Yerwada-Wagholi route, said MLA Sunil Tingre.
“I had demanded Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in August 2020 to make Nagar Road signal free. On this, a meeting was held on August 28, 2020, under the leadership of Dy CM Ajit Pawar with Public Works Department and NHAI officials in council hall Pune. The Deputy CM had a telephone conversation with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari seeking funds from the Center for the road. Gadkari asked him to send a proposal in this regard”, he said.
A letter was exchanged with the Union Minister from the Deputy Chief Minister’s Office. “In this regard, on January 7, 2021, I met Union Minister Gadkari at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai and followed up again on the design of this signal-free city road. This pursuit has finally succeeded”, Tingre said.
There will be a total of sixteen lanes, four lanes below, then four and six lanes above. Union Minister Gadkari informed about this decision at a press conference in Pune. “Work on the route will begin in the next six months”, Tingre added.
